Rochon Born from Torrance (a suburb in Los Angeles), is the daughter of Zelma Staples. Her parents are Samuel Staples a graphic designer and businessman. Cerritos High school, Cerritos California is where she completed her high-school education in the year 1982. She graduated in 1986 from California State University Dominguez Hill (CSUDH) with an undergraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Theatre and Sociology.
